Can more than one person own a task?

No. Assigning a single task to multiple people is how everyone assumes that someone else is doing the work. You can split a task into two tasks if you want to assign pieces of the work to different people. Tasks are intentionally created at the smallest logical unit of work to minimize your need to edit the tasks.
