What is the discovery process?
Overview
The Choose Your Tools step is part of CorZen’s Intake Process workflow. It guides you through a structured asset inventory to identify what you already have, what you still need, and what could benefit from refinement. Completing this step accurately is essential for CorZen to generate the most relevant suggestions and strategies for your project.
What Is the Discovery Process?
When you begin a new project in CorZen, the platform asks you to take stock of your current assets across a wide range of discovery items which could vary from your target customer segment to your launch sequence, sales process, and beyond. For each item, you select one of three states:
| Status | What it means |
| ✅ Already Have It | You have a working solution or documented answer for this item. Optionally add detail in the text field. |
| ❓ Need Suggestions | You don’t have this yet and want CorZen to generate ideas, frameworks, or recommendations. |
| ➕ Both | You have a draft or partial solution, but want suggestions from CorZen. |
Tip
You can add optional context in the text field that appears under any item you mark. This helps CorZen tailor its suggestions to your specific situation.
Discovery Items Covered
The asset inventory covers the full range of information needed to achieve your goal. Items are grouped into categories that are relevant to your project. Each list of items is slightly unique because the list is generated based on your project goal.
Step-by-Step: Completing the Discovery Process
- Open your project. From the Dashboard, go to Projects and select the project you’re setting up.
- Navigate to Intake Progress. The status bar at the top shows your current step. The Project Intake Process will automatically guide to the next question, making it easy to quickly provide information that will be used to generate your custom project plan.
- Review each discovery item. Read the item label carefully, then click the appropriate status: Already Have It, Need Suggestions, or Both.
- Add context where helpful. After selecting a status, a text field will appear. Use it to share details such as “Marketers, Educators, Ops” for your target segment. This improves the quality of suggestions CorZen generates.
- Scroll through the full list. The list is long. Take your time because items near the bottom (like Retention strategy, Referral program design, and Upsell opportunities) are just as important as those at the top.
- Submit and proceed. Once all items are addressed, your personalized project plan will use the information to identify critical tasks and skip ‘busy work’.
Experience Level & What to Expect
How you approach the discovery process will differ depending on your experience level. Here’s a guide to help you get the most out of this step:
| Experience Level | Recommended Approach | What to Expect from CorZen |
| Beginner | Mark most items as “Need Suggestions.” Don’t worry if you don’t have answers yet — that’s exactly what CorZen is here for. | CorZen will generate comprehensive frameworks, templates, and step-by-step guidance for each area you flag. |
| Some experience | Mark items you’ve thought through as “Already Have It,” add brief notes in the text fields, and use “Both” for areas where you want a second opinion. | CorZen will respect your existing work and layer in targeted suggestions to fill gaps or sharpen your thinking. |
| Seasoned operator | Mark most items as “Already Have It” with detailed notes. Use “Need Suggestions” only for specific unknowns. | CorZen focuses suggestions on the gaps you’ve identified, saving time by skipping what you’ve already solved. |
